A great article about one’s first crush – with video games, that is!  Which game was your first crush?   I’m about 7 years older than this author, but like his, my crush began with an Atari 2600 received at Christmas.  I liked lots of the games, but looking back on it I recognize the special place in my heart for Adventure.  Since then, I’ve always loved RPG games the most (although I’ll confess to occasional dalliances with other genres!).  After the Atari 2600, I had an Atari 800 computer, where Star Raiders was the closest I could get to an RPG.  But when PCs really hit the scene in the mid to late 80s, I discovered the Ultima series, and Ultima Underworld.  From there, it was a straight progression to Oblivion and now Skyrim.  So although I’ve had multiple partners in this romance, it has always kept me satisfied! I love this pic! You can see why, right? Because it reminds me of me and John together. The guy with his back to the camera has about the same build as me, and he apparently prefers skin-tight jeans (look at how they grip his thighs!) just like I do. The other guy has a build similar to John's (although John is bulked up a bit more), and he sees to like to put his hand exactly the same place as John grips me when we kiss. The only thing to change to get this right is to give each guy much longer hair, and to put John's other hand in my hair. Enjoy!

So I have a story to go with these photos of the indescribably beautiful Laetitia Casta. In late 1997 I was in Paris for work, staying in a hotel not far from the Rue St. Honore, where all the ultra-high fashion boutiques are clustered, and only a short walk from the offices of the top designers.   Leaving my hotel one morning, I spotted this magazine for sale at a newsstand, but foolishly I did not buy it immediately.   As I was getting ready to leave Paris a few days later, I went to buy the magazine, but the newsstand near the hotel had sold all its copies.  I then spent the next hour or so scouring every newsstand in the neighborhood, looking for this magazine.  Nearly oblivious to all the beautiful people I passed on the sidewalks, my only concern was to find a copy of the magazine featuring the object of my desire, but every newsstand was sold out!  They had plenty of other fashion and photography magazines, but the one featuring Laetitia on the cover was not to be found

I’ve read a few posts recently asking how to write a description of a sexual encounter with an alien - the problem being that, of course (?), we don’t know what aliens have got and what they do with it. In writing my own story, which is based firmly in reality, I didn’t have this problem directly, but the issue did come up.  I got around the problem by having the characters talk about what they think about doing it with an alien, rather than by describing how they would do it with an alien.  It was one of those instances where talking about doing it seemed to be sexier than describing it! Surfing web videos this weekend, I came across two music videos which, for me, were deliciously complementary versions of feminity.  I couldn't choose which one I like most, so I'm glad I don't have to. The first is Dido singing "Thank You"   - so sweet and sofly feminine. The second is a classic version of Rhiannon, by Stevie Nicks with Fleetwood  Mac.   Starting at about the four minute mark, and towards five, she pours so much into this performance, no words I could write could describe it. What I like most about Dido is her phrasing.  In this song, for example, the way she runs one word into another causes the song to flow in a way that brings to mind a woman running her hands over your body, pleasing you in the way that only a woman can. The intensity of Stevie Nicks elicits the opposite image - a wild woman whose passions cannot be tamed.  The fact that she looks like every girl in high school I ever fantasized about certainly helps. So true.  When writing my own story, it was very important to me that it reflect something of myself - my own desires and some of my most closely held ideas.  It was cathartic to put that part of myself on the page, but at the same time difficult to reveal myself in that way.  I still wonder if I said too much.
